halldorarni22 says:

That was a HORRIBLE start for the audi. I think it would have taken the
race with a propper start !

headcas620 says:

I’d have to go with the BMW because it’s not a glorified jetta.

kenshin moriame says:

I’d get the 228i great car, good performance, handling, power for a 4
cylinder, and very good mpg especially for a BMW, best car BMW has made
since the e30 and e36, small, light, handling, power, and now fuel economy,
get your cake and eat it too

kosmilitsis says:

Why not compare it with the M235i?

nigmosh65 says:

I’m surprised how the BMW won in the drag race. It seemed rather obvious
that the Audi would win (AWD and way more power), but nope.

Anthony Cuda says:

It really seemed like there was something wrong with the Audi. Turbo Lag
aside.

SlipknotMaggot0526 says:

That Fiat Renegade looks like a Kia Soul.

Kristoffer P says:

As much as I love the Audi I would still pick the BMW. Not because the fact
that it is better looking, its not, but because its better to drive.

Михаил Чилек says:

Are you kidding? S3 slower then 228i? Who was behind the wheel of S3, start
was just “amazing” :)

True data.
0-60:
S3 – 4.4
235i – 4.3

1/4 mile:
S3 – 12.9 (108 mph)
235i – 12.9 (109 mph)

228 is much slower, its rival is A3 2.0T Quattro.
RS3 is such a monster, will destroy every hatch in a straight line.

theokan89 says:

m235i vs S3 please. These two are not direct competitors.

MrKeyboardCommando says:

I really like these episodes. They’re more relaxed than the daily videos
and have more time to develop a particular theme. My particular favourites
are -
BMW v Audi is always good for a laugh. People seem to get particularly
incensed about these two marques.
Roman’s chat in the Murano is absolutely excellent. The old guy is really
very good at this kind of thing.
I always enjoy watching Nathan when he’s zooming around, off road, in a
car he really likes. He grins like the Cheshire cat.
I’m glad TFL have got their hands on a Renegade with the
engine/transmission combination for which it was designed. The
car looks a complete hoot to drive.
All in all, another top quality production from the best automobile channel
on the web. All that’s missing is our Emme.

Valon Selimaj says:

I love the bmw but if you had used launch control on the s3 it would have
dusted the 228i the s3 walks on sti’s never mind a 228′s

drunkpolak wontreply says:

Surprised at the Audi S3 lost to a BMW 228i considering it has more power
and AWD, even though the Beamer was 100lbs lighter. The Renegade just
screams small diesel engine with standard transmission for off road fun.

lffit says:

Hey you guys you have already uploaded this video on the Nissan Murano,
don’t push it OK!

Syad Salim says:

BMW all the way though, and I also Like the Nissan and the jeep.
Great job doing videos every single almost Day!!!!!!!

The Fast Lane Car says:
mercmilan06 says:

Not using launch control adds about a full second to the S3′s 0-60 time
(5.7 vs. 4.7) because it has to slip the S tronic’s clutch in first gear
and you don’t get full boost until about 1,800rpm. I have an S3 and it
pulls way harder than the BMW’s 240hp engine but it’s still not going to
get out of the hole faster than a conventional torque converter automatic
if you don’t use launch control, that’s what it’s there for. The S3 is
otherwise very lively and it will ultimately understeer at the limit but
it’s pretty neutral feeling on the street and it’s a blast and a half to
drive, couldn’t be happier with it…especially the fuel mileage.

Ara J says:

does the 2.4 tigershark engine with AWD comes with the 6 speed manual ??

skybluesky1000 says:

shouldn’t you step on the brakes and then on the gas pedal to built up some
RPM and then launch it?

Zachary Jones says:

Does anyone know if the renegade is smaller or bigger then the jeep liberty
renegade they had in 05? Back when the liberty’s were small

WesleyEngDOTcom says:

Stop kidding yourself, you have no freaking room in the back of that
Renegade lol

rkgsd says:

Pathetic excuse for bumpers! Worse than than VW Tiguan. I would expect more
from a name like Jeep but the Fiat influence (since they own Chrysler which
owns Jeep) is definitely making its way in.

mikele111mikele says:

Bad driving by whoever is behind the wheel of the Audi. The S3 is faster
everywhere than the 228i. This “drag race” is pure BS.

Erick Munoz says:

Huge TFL fan but the bmws audi comparison is not their best work. First,
given the dozens of combinations the audi 3 series and bmws 3 series come
in, a competent review simply cannot avoid explaining the options and
choices for the given cars. Second, the two cars they ended up with are
simply not comparable. The 2 series has 2 models, the 228 and the m235 (for
now, with an M2 announced for Nov. production). The audi A3 has two cars
to compete with those (and an entry level 1.8 liter engine that has no real
bmw counterpart) the Audi A3 2.0T as analogue to the 228 and the Audi S3 as
analogue to the M 235i.

If you are not going to at least compare apples to similarly sized oranges,
then you have to put it in context. Otherwise is just feels like the
reviewer is blind to the obvious intention of the models and it ruins the
review. For example, was the 228i an M Sport with dynamic chassis control
and other options that priced it close to the S3? We don’t know.

Looking forward to a return to form in the future for an amazing youtube
channel.

crazy wheel says:

Most of the jeeps are ugly (exept the grand cherokee) and that’s what I
like them, the Renegade is small and ugly but at the same time looks good
and is the only one on its category that is appropriate for a man

Dan Troop says:

“Simple and Honest”, a description of the Jeep or of the presenter?

Maxk99 says:

Great video guys but it annoys the shit out of me when you pronounce Nissan
wrong. Its Nissan.Not niiiiiiiiiiiiiissan.

V10PDTDI says:

The start of the S3 was disappointing if you want to test 0 to 60 do it the
best way possible like trying to launch the car with ESP off and launch
control activated so you know what is the fastest way to do a 0 to 60 the
same goes for the BMW so to be fair to both manufacture I think the test
should be done one more time and the right way.

billm47645 says:

I don’t blame the driver in their abilities so much as I blame their
technical abilities for the poor start. I’ve had two vehicles with the DSG.
In normal mode there is some hesitation off the line in what I think is a
compromise so people don’t complain about jerky starts as the clutch is
dropped more slowly to allow some slippage. In sport or manual mode it will
snap your neck back on a start. I actually think the difference is more
noticeable on the newer DSGs so much so I find myself only using normal
drive mode in traffic or when I have other occupants in the vehicle.

tm965 says:

That Nissan looks like an aids ridden turd

MrKeyboardCommando says:

This video is a perfect example of why 0-60mph times are of very little
use. On the open road, where these cars will spend 100% of their time, the
initial turbo lag wouldn’t occur. A far more useful test would be 30-70mph.
It’s this speed range that’s important when driving.

steve allen says:

Fucking AMAZING !!!

CarsFanTV says:

You guys are a disgrace, how could you define that as a “drag race”…did
you even see it before uploading the video?…just embarrasing.

g1981c says:

the A3 doesn’t have a torque converter which gives the transmission a sort
of a slippery feel off the line, sort of like a CVT which i didn’t like,
but once up to speed the shifts are flawless. i didn’t drive the S3, but i
think they have a similar DCT just more boost. as for interior space i was
inside both the A3 and 228 and its a HUGE difference. the A3 was
comfortable for me in the front, and i fit in the back just barely. with
228 i didn’t even fit in the front ( i’m 220 lbs ). don’t forget you can
get the 228 with all wheel drive too.

RayzaBlayz says:

lol he said two sedans

Ep…: http://youtu.be/RPn8MGLtwGY

emireitor says:

Wtf why not use launch control??!! The fucking test is to get the car from
0-60 as fast as possible. I dont give a dick if bmw doesnt have LC and you
say you want to make the test ‘fair’. Get the car to 60 as fast as possible
by any means, if audi does it with LC the do it. This is not even the m235i
and it beat the audi?? MY BALLS

haris javed says:

bad start for the Audi :(, they should have kept it in the proper power
band range.

Zac Williams says:

Sneaky putting the Renegade in at the end there. I can’t wait to test drive
this new car, almost exactly as you have it optioned out there.

John q says:

Merc GLA vs Jeep Grand Cherokee Mashup

Mini Moto says:

Cool little baby jeep.

DancinRandy54 says:

i still wanna see that vid of the challanger from the intro

marzkc says:

Why not an xi to make it 2.0t awd vs 2.0t awd? Or do they not make an xi
model for 228i?

nigmosh65 says:

8:42, S4, lol????

billm47645 says:

Ahmad M. says:

BMW always underrates the power.. i’m guessing its pushing at least 280

Hiluxtaco says:

No matter who won, I would still love to have either car parked in my
driveway…

aneelkaa says:

Man you can’t drive the Audi.. You should get a real driver… The S3 is 1
sec faster 0-100 km/h and it looses in your test do you think someting is
wrong here?

Mikey Mulhearn says:

The BMW M235i is the only one priced correctly… It is $45k and is faster
than a mustang GT, and is, well, a BMW.
