Got a manual A4 1.8TFSI Avant at the mo, but looking to upgrade to an auto
box after having an A7 Sportback 3.0tdi quattro loaner for a week…(yup,
they knew what they were doing there :) ) …the A6 *might be a bit steep
(pricewise) but it sure looks an awesome motor. BTW….I’d love to have a
beer or three with you Bob coz ya just crack me up with some of your
comments…(fellow Celtic humour I ‘spose :P ) Great review, cheers!

Jim Young says:

Really enjoyed this review. Are there any plans to do an A6 Avant Ultra
review?

Peter Rudy says:

Great intelligent review. and Spot On. Glad I just bought one. The Avant
is perfect car in snow country Colorado. Hard to believe that the idiots
at Audi USA marketing stopped importing Avant A6s in 2011.

AlecJB says:

Great, honest review. Thanks for uploading! Oh and I want that car. :-)

helenaustinfan says:

Another, SUPERB review!

Bob Flavin says:

Well Jeremy you have two of the top choices there. The A6 has a better
shape in the boot for square items and being a quattro it’s surefooted all
the time, great engine too. The 520 will have the better drivers experience
and looks a bit better too. Also there’s that split boot lid that allows
dropping in of items. Because you’ve been 5 years with Audi you might need
a change so try the 520i for size. You might also look at the CLS Shooting
brake if money allows

Bob Flavin says:

I think it’s Brian Eno an ending…it was so long ago lol

Bob Flavin says:

@benny5825 It’s in Band D so 447 a year at the moment, until the budget

loster88 says:

hey great review, but there is one thing in the end that you said, that…
“a car with soul” I wouldn’t say it that way: it is a great car, a great
machine that is fast, comfortable, roomy, quite, and easy to drive, fast or
slowly, but that’s it. Just my opinion. I’ve tested the three big avant’s
(a6/5er/E), and to me both of them have the same principal behind…. It’s
a question of “like” when cames to choose one of the three

benny bennys says:

How much is the road tax?

Bob Flavin says:

@auditwaht hehe thanks d00d

Bob Flavin says:

Nothing like causing a bit of debate, I’m glad you love/hate me :D

Johan Littorin says:

“Flat floor”, should be flat, right? That ain’t flat at all. Not a lot of
cars offering flat floors. I do not think any of the germans do it. Maybe
in the SUVs, but not in their estates. Volvo do it, but they are way
outdated.

Paul Fishwick says:

Sold! Love your reviews and am very excited to say that I put a deposit on
a 3.0d 245 ps Quattro A6 Avant S-Line Black edition (in black) this week! I
like my 2011 520d saloon but the poor weather has made me dream of quattro
and the performance of the Audi V6 swayed me completely (Plus, Audi are
currently incentivising BMW drivers to change so they cleared the negative
equity on my car for me). Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Ryan Doherty says:

What do you call the piece of music at the end. I love that car.

rassan gaedi says:

is this A6 3.0 TDI OR WHAT ????

louisvl10 says:

Dear Santa…

auditwaht says:

@Smokerspack To activate the launch control, the ESC has to be turned off
and the “S”-mode has to be selected. There ain’t no button for the LC!

Johan Littorin says:

I googled it a bit and found this, might be more. Flat Floor: Volvo V70
Volvo XC70 Volvo XC60 Nissan Qashqai +2 Toyota Verso Land Rover Freelander
Mercedes GLK Almost flat floor: Subaru Legacy Mercedes E-class

vlogirlandia says:

BRIAN ENO! An Ending just follows me around… Astra F Commercial, Top
Gear’s V12 Vantage review, Love/Hate and now you, Bob.

Bob Flavin says:

@cechchelsea09 Yes, 3.0ltr V6 Diesel. 0-100 kph in 6.3 secs but I can do it
quicker :)

ventende says:

What engine?

zafriavxr says:

Brilliant is all I can say, well done there, better than Top Gear??? By
far, simples!!!

locomason says:

I love this guy “DON’T CUT OUT NOW ‘START STOP’. BLOODY EFFICIENCY CRAP!”

Mark Fullam says:

Thanks for helping. This is part of the reason i watch literally ALL of
your reviews, because you a down to earth communicator, and your not afraid
to express your own opinion. KEEP IT UP!!

Bob Flavin says:

Drives me nuts when it cuts out just when you don’t need it too. Bloody
environmental stuff. Thanks for watching!

Patrick James Quinn says:

He’s from the country, we’ll let him off ;)

Bob Flavin says:

It’s hard to beat the Quattro S-Tronic combo, it’s fantastic to drive and
handles corners like no other car. As you say the Multitronic version is a
lot cheaper and while it’s still good it’s just not as silky smooth as
S-tronic but if you’re on a budget it’s still a very decent car

Bob Flavin says:

No current model estate car has a truly flat floor, the A6 is about as flat
as any of them. If you want a really flat floor then you need a van or a
couple of the 7 seat cars come close but they are basically vans with seats.

Mark Fullam says:

So what is the best estate car in your opinion, something that puts comfort
and practicality first? And a good looker too with a high-quality feel?
thanks in advance.

Seán O'Nilbud says:

But he’s eager to please in the sack, swings and roundabouts.
